Why You Are Exhausted and Broke …
Getting results comes down to acquiring a few simple, actionable strategies you can consistently apply in the real world.
– Nate Miyaki
Hi, I’m Hugo. My problem is exhaustion and being broke.
Going on a weight loss journey requires a high amount of willpower and money. You have a limited amount of willpower (and a limited amount of money). If you run out of these resources halfway, you will give up. You gain the weight you’ve lost – and the poorer your health gets, the less energy you have to do something about it.
You look in the mirror six months down the road, and you are sick of how you look and feel. But you keep procrastinating and use every excuse in the book. The more out of control your weight becomes, the more shame you feel that becomes overwhelming.
One of my goals is to have a healthy body. After a long time with a less than ideal weight, I got to the point where I was sick of how I look and feel. At times it gets bad enough that I can’t walk down the street without feeling shame that overwhelms me. It makes me want to hide instead and stay out of people’s sight (read more about me here).
How do you avoid all of these bad feelings that suck you dry?
Read the quote above from Nate Miyaki, author of the Half Day Diet program. The principle of weight loss is to restrict your calorie intake. Every other rule of weight loss, or every piece of new science, is either a confirmation of this principle or an extension of it. You don’t need new tricks or hacks to lose weight – you just need a simple, actionable strategy you can do consistently.
The Half Day Diet aims to give you that simple, actionable strategy you can use to lose weight.
What is the Half Day Diet Plan?
The Half Day Diet is a simplified weight loss program written by fitness champion Nate Miyaki. The book is available in e-book PDF format that you can download in the member’s area after purchase. It is published and copyrighted by Shapeshifter Media, Inc, in 2013 so it is legit and not a scam.
The main book is 204 pages long and is comprised of six parts:
- The first and second parts of the book provide the introduction and background story of the origins of the program.
- The core lessons of the program are found in the third part of the book and is divided into 15 chapters.
- The fourth part is the appendix for a food chart and diet calculations
- The fifth part contains common problems and how to troubleshoot them
- The sixth part gives more information about the author’s biography
Other than the main book, you receive a few bonus books as part of your purchase. These books are:
- Happy Hour Handbook. This book is a brief 10-page guide on how to drink alcohol in a way that does not ruin your diet, but neither restricts your socializing time with friends and co-workers.
- Holiday Fat Loss Manual. This book is 17 pages long and gives you tips on how to eat healthy during family holidays when it’s difficult to avoid eating big, fat meals.
- Restaurant and Fast Food Survival Guide. This book is a 29-page guide on how to eat healthy in restaurants. This guide is suited for busy office professionals who eat out often but want to lose weight.
You also receive a 30-day free trial of Nate’s Flat Belly Platinum Club Membership. You can take advantage of this free trial offer to get advice directly from Nate and other forum members of the community.
How Does the Half Day Diet Work?
The main lessons that make up the Half Day Diet are found in the third part of the book. There are 15 chapters in the third part, but they can be separated into four sections according to importance:
Food Choices (Lesson #1)
It is true that simply by adjusting your food choices, you can achieve 80-90% of your weight goal. If you do this step correctly, you will not need any of the fad trend diet tricks and hacks that appear daily.
As Nate writes in the book:
Cut out processed, man-made foods, and return to your evolutionary, ancestral, or cultural past by eating more real, natural foods like wild animals and plants.
– page 10
Simply by cutting out chemical-laden processed foods, you return your metabolism to its natural state. Your body will begin to digest, absorb, and use nutrition properly. You will reduce or minimize disease and illness, and increase your immune system strength.
Diet Structure (Lessons #2 – #4)
Once you know what foods to avoid and what to eat, the next step is how to eat those foods. The lessons in Chapters 2 to 4 focus on finding a diet structure that fits YOUR lifestyle. Finding one structure that you can stick to consistently over a long period is the key to success.
Although there will be specific adjustments you must make to fit your situation, the general structure of the Half Day Diet plan is summarized in Nate’s words:
Eat lighter and LESS frequently while active and “hunting” or “gathering” during the day, and eat the majority of your calories at night while relaxing or socializing.
– page 11
Diet Details and Advanced Principles (Lessons #5 – #12)
These lessons contain the adjustments you need to make to fit your lifestyle. Nate gives many real-life case studies of his clients and their success. He explains what they did, why they did it, and how you can do it. Each chapter is wrapped up with supporting science research.
The structure of the chapters are divided into these sub-sections:
- Client Story
- Summary of What to Do
- Why You Should Do It
- How to Do It
- Research Corner (For Your Inner Geek)
The lessons included in the diet details and advanced principles section are: calorie calculation, protein optimization, whole food fats emphasis, carbohydrate recommendations (for both non-exercising folks and exercising folks), pre-workout, post-workout, and peri-workout modifications, templates for both inactive folks and exercising folks.
As Nate says, although there are many chapters in the book, if you just follow the first two chapters, then you can achieve up to 90% of your weight loss target.

Half Day Diet Review – The Good and Bad
Now that you know what the program is and how it works, allow me to review the pros and cons:
Pros #1 – The lessons are structured well
I study about how the human brain studies. The way Nate structures each chapter is currently the most effective technique in helping the brain study. Each chapter has a real-life example for people who can only learn through examples, and it also has scientific research for people who learn through theories.
Some people must know WHY they need to learn something while other people must know HOW to do it. Nate covers all learning styles in each chapter.
Pros #2 – The program is designed to fit the modern lifestyle
Some people can adjust their lifestyle to fit the modern fitness ‘convention’. But not everyone can do it. Not everyone has the freedom not to eat dinner when they have already skipped breakfast and lunch due to a hectic work schedule.
Nate designed his program so that it fits your lifestyle – not the other way around. Several of the client testimonials inside the book say how relieved they feel after switching over to Nate’s diet.
Pros #3 – Nate writes in an entertaining humor fashion
I’ve read half a dozen diet books in the past several months. Nate is the only one that has a good sense of humor in it. Although he makes sure to write the important information, he is not afraid to joke once in a while. A good sense of humor is important in this serious journey of weight loss – and it highlights Nate’s easy-going and laid back character.
Cons #1 – You may have to change your strongly-held beliefs
If you have beliefs about dieting that you have held onto for years, you may find it difficult to let them go. Nate is a huge advocate of following a natural pattern of eating, which means you will be eating big dinners. If you’re not used to eating big dinners, you may need some time to make the adjustment.
Cons #2 – It will take time before you see results
Unlike some other diets that promise results within weeks, Nate makes no such promises. Some of his clients have had rapid success, but they were already losing weight. If you are starting from complete beginner, then give yourself time to follow this diet.
Where to Buy the Program for the Best Price?
You have reached the end of my review. In short, the Half Day Diet by Nate Miyaki offers a simplified weight-loss program that fits your lifestyle as you build your career. It is based on the natural eating patterns of humans that eat light during the day when working and eat big during the night at rest.
Other similar diet books that you can purchase are Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon. This book discusses the science of intermittent fasting, which is also used inside the Half Day Diet. Or you can take a look at The 3 Week Diet by Brian Flatt, which helps you lose weight in 21 days (it also uses the intermittent fasting method). But these books lack the structure of the Half Day Diet, which in my opinion is one of the strongest points of the book.
In my research, I have not found any coupon codes that allow you to buy this program at a discount. You can get the $51 OFF when you click on this button below:
I want to end this review with a story. I read a post in a forum by a man trying to lose weight. His motivation was that five men he knew died of heart attacks just recently. What made him scared the most was that every last one of these men were younger and less fat than he is.
Whether you decide to join Nate’s program or not, make sure you take responsibility for your health. You can just apply the principle of avoiding processed food, and you will get results. But if you want more details, a proven system, and support from Nate himself, then it’s best to join his program.
As Nate says:
“I believe most of us know what we should be doing.
We just need to DO IT.”
